Competition Rules & Info
The DOOMED Index hosts annual competitions surrounding UV-Maxing the challenging maps on its index. Here are the rules for them:
- The goal is to earn as many points as possible
- Points are earned through UV-Maxing maps on either the index or the Bounty List
- A player may only receive points from a map once...UV-Maxing a map multiple times earns no more points than UV-Maxing it once. This resets between competitions, assuming the map remains on the index.
- Players must submit to the dedicated Doomworld thread for submitting demos to the Doomed Index
- Players may not submit demos for Legacy List maps; runs on the Legacy List yield 0 points, unless a player has already UV-Maxed the Legacy List map when it was on the index, prior to its transferral to the Legacy List
- Points are collected in 3 different ways:
- Competition Points - The amount of points a player has earned during the current competition. This value is reset to 0 at the conclusion of each competition
- Total Points - This is a cumulative total of Competition Points earned over the years.
- All-time Points - This is Total Points + points earned from maps prior to said maps being moved to the legacy list
- There will be rewards for the top 3 winners every competition...the rewards are TBD
Here is some general info about how the index and competition is maintained:
- Competitions are annual
- Between competitions, community consensus helps cull/add to the index based on interest in challenging maps. The same goes for the Bounty List
- At any given time, a map's difficulty may be reassigned if people believe its current difficulty rating to be inaccurate
- The Bounty List features runs with point values greater than maps of the same difficulty on the index. This incentivizes completing maps that have not been UV-Maxed before.
- The Players page lists all the members of the DOOMED Index, as well as their point totals, and the amount of maps for each difficulty they have UV-Maxed
- Updates to the website and index will be found on its homepage
